PRIO uses artificial intelligence in HR and saves more than 70 hours per sector

Using Microsoft Copilot, the oil company has created prompts and interview scripts that automate the construction of job descriptions and skills mapping
PRIO, the largest independent oil and gas company in Brazil, has been using Microsoft Copilot for about a year to optimize job descriptions and skills mapping in its Human Resources department. With the implementation of the technology, the company is saving over 70 hours per area and generating more accurate results than previously contracted services.
The process currently consists of two hours of planning (involving the prompt construction) and two hours with the manager of each area (one hour of interview and one hour of review) to find out all the duties expected of the tasks in detail. The interview is recorded and transcribed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and just one minute after its end, using the designed prompt, AI provides complete and accurate skills mapping and job description.
Through conceptual modeling, Copilot learns what a skill is and the elements that comprise it. By cross-referencing said information with the company’s context, the AI tool applies the concept to PRIO’s organizational levels, thus defining the behaviors expected of each professional in the organization. This process, which usually involves analyzing technical documentation, interviews and alignments, used to take around 50 hours from a consulting firm and 26 hours from each manager.
“At PRIO, we seek solutions focused on operational efficiency and cost optimization in a safe, scalable and sustainable manner. At the IT department, our aim is to offer the best tools, understanding the needs of each area to create practical and efficient solutions. This is a clear example of that,” says Wescley Fernandes, IT Manager at PRIO.
“Developing this initiative took about a week, between learning the platform and testing the commands. We have already applied it to more than 15 careers, within their respective areas, with 99% assertiveness and continue to expand to cover all sectors,” explains Marcelo Ludwig, HR specialist and creator of the solution.
Several studies have been carried out to analyze the use of artificial intelligence specifically in the Human Resources area, such as one developed by the consulting firm Gartner, which predicts that 70% of HR tasks will be automated in the near future. A survey by Deloitte shows that 80% of human resources executives believe that AI will have a significant impact on the sector over the next five years. Therefore, companies that dictate trends and know how to use technology to their advantage will have a competitive advantage in optimizing processes, costs and the most valuable asset: time.
“PRIO is using the power of AI to optimize an extensive but extremely strategic process for the company. With the support of technology, the company has already seen significant gains in productivity, freeing up hours for its HR team to dedicate to strategic tasks in the hiring process,” says Andrea Cerqueira, Vice-President of Corporate Sales for Clients and Startups at Microsoft Brazil.
