Female enrollment in the Reação Offshore Program grows 20%
PRIO recorded a 20% increase in the number of women enrolled in the Reação Offshore program, aimed at providing training in the oil and gas industry. The course, supported by the company, has been attracting increasingly more women interested in entering the offshore market. Created in 2022 with the purpose of training professionals for the oil and gas market, Reação Offshore is the result of a partnership between Todos na Luta, Instituto Reação and Firjan SENAI, and has already trained over 470 people. PRIO alone has already employed almost 100 students, as well as many others who have found opportunities in other companies in the industry through the training.
Anna Clara, 21, is one of the former students who has been hired by the company. The Rocinha resident saw the offshore world as an opportunity to change her life and help her family. “I had never thought of working on an oil rig,” she recalls. “After Reação Offshore, I have a new perspective. We are out of financial trouble and now I can make plans for the future,” says the Offshore Foreman on the Tubarão Martelo platform in the Campos Basin in Rio de Janeiro.
Dirlaine Oliveira, Operations Manager at PRIO and responsible for the Polvo-TBMT Cluster, has almost 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. With a degree in Petroleum Engineering from UFRJ and a post-graduate degree in Project Management from FGV, she has held several positions at PRIO, such as Production Engineer and People Development Coordinator. “If I could give you one tip, I would tell those interested in entering the industry to never let anyone tell them they cannot do something, not even people in their family, and to always believe in themselves, their convictions and their will,” she says.
Elida Gurgel, People and Performance Manager at PRIO, sees women’s greater interest in the onboard work model as positive. “In general, it is a big challenge. Being away from family and missing important celebrations are part of the routine for those who work offshore. On the other hand, there are more possibilities for career development and more competitive salaries and benefits,” says the executive, an engineer by training with over 20 years of experience working on board.
