PRIO creates institute to expand social and environmental activities

Last Monday (23rd), PRIO launched the PRIO Institute, aimed at structuring and expanding projects in the areas of environmental education, biodiversity and climate and the economy of the sea. The initiative marks the company’s tenth year of operation and stresses its commitment to socio-environmental action through innovation, efficiency and a positive legacy in the territories where it operates.

With its own governance and autonomous structure, the Institute aims to transform initiatives into structured, measurable programs with the potential for replication. The proposal is to consolidate and expand the methodology already applied by the company in recent years and to launch technical calls for tenders aimed at continuing and expanding projects already supported by the company, such as Mar Atento—a project aimed at training fishermen to act in emergency situations.

“The creation of the PRIO Institute is a natural outcome of our growth trajectory. We have reached a moment of maturity when it makes sense to structure our socio-environmental activities in a more technical, broad and lasting manner,” says Francisco Bulhões, Head of Institutional Relations at PRIO. “This movement is born with method and with strategic partners,” he adds.

According to PRIO, the Institute’s activities will be gradually expanded through public calls for new initiatives in line with the company’s mission.
