PRIO Corporate Forest
In 2022, PRIO entered into a partnership with the NGO Saving the Amazon with the purpose of creating its own “corporate forest”. The company celebrated the Tree Day on September 21, donating over 800 seedlings of Amazon native trees for planting in the indigenous reserve of Tukuna Umariaçu, in the state of Amazonas

Community-Based Tourism Subprojects
To drive Community-Based Tourism (TBC), six related projects were approved in 2022 together with fishing communities. The total investment is R$ 3 million. Such actions include nature conservation, solidarity economy, protection of cultural heritage and, above all, the protagonism of local communities.

Environmental Education Project (PEA)
In 2022, the Environmental Education Project implemented over 35 projects developed by PRIO with the purpose of promoting the conservation of biodiversity in the coastal and marine zone of the state of Rio de Janeiro, the sustainable use of fishing resources and the strengthening of artisanal fishing as a long-term strategy.

TAC Frade
In 2019, PRIO took over the Frade Field and, consequently, its respective TAC, whose strategic objectives are: the conservation of biodiversity on the coast, sustainable use of fishing resources, the strengthening of artisanal fishing, and environmental education.

Manguezais (Mangroves) Subproject
With an investment of R$ 7 million, this subproject fosters the conservation and sustainable use in mangrove areas in the state of Rio de Janeiro, by supporting the implementation of research projects and/or projects that are relevant to the fishing production chain and the social well-being of traditional communities.

Conservation of Porpoise
The project is in line with the guidelines of the National Action Plan (PAN) for the Conservation of Porpoise, the most endangered coastal dolphin in Brazil, and supports research on the animal ecology and its accidental mortality due to fishing activities on the Brazilian coast.

Marine and Fishing Research
With an investment of approximately R$ 54 million, the project is an important ally in the search for new information related to fishing and the marine environment in Rio de Janeiro.

Support for Conservation and Sustainable Use
The project proposes the structuring of seven Conservation Units (UCs) on the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro and includes actions such as the preparation of management plans, organizational strengthening, training of local artisanal fishermen, signaling and support for the visitation structure and the operation of the units. The investment has already reached approximately R$ 25 million.

Vegetable Gardens at Sea
We plant vegetable gardens on our offshore units to create a space for socializing and exchanges between our employees and to raise the team's awareness of the importance of reconnecting with nature.
