PRIO develops safer and more comfortable overalls

PRIO continues to innovate and, thinking even more about the safety of offshore professionals, has developed a new overall that is part of the personal protective equipment (PPE). The new model, developed in partnership with Protenge, is 30% lighter than conventional industry standards and has advanced flame retardant reinforcement, thus raising safety and comfort standards in the workplace.

The difference in the new outfit lies in the fabric composition. The material, imported from Spain, is a unique combination of viscose, aramid and antistatic fiber. It leaves the factory with flame retardant protection, unlike ordinary overalls made of cotton, which need to go through a chemical bath to be fire resistant. Moreover, it is a cooler fabric, with better thermal comfort and more supple – important attributes for those who spend up to 12 hours working thousands of kilometers from dry land.

The new clothing has also been designed to improve visibility and safety. The model is designed in fluorescent yellow, a color that offers greater visibility in low-light environments and is self-reflective, increasing worker safety. In addition, the Rip Stop technology present in the fabric increases the material’s resistance to tearing, ensuring greater durability over time.

PRIO estimates that, by the end of the year, over 500 professionals working on the company’s platforms will have received the new equipment, which also brings environmental benefits, such as lower water consumption in manufacturing and faster drying, reducing laundry costs.
