Experience at sea and social collab: PRIO promotes action with professional surfers and launches shorts with proceeds going to a social project in Rocinha
Students from the Vivendo um Sonho Surf (VUSS) social project had an unprecedented experience last Sunday (13th), participating in a tow-in surfing class—a modality in which the surfer is pulled by a jet ski—with athletes Will Santana and Michelle des Bouillons, both part of the international championship “Gigantes de Nazaré” (Nazaré Big Wave Challenge), whose Rio de Janeiro stage is sponsored by PRIO. The event took place on the beach in Barra da Tijuca and brought together around 20 young people from the Rocinha community.
The initiative is part of the I❤PRIO sponsorship platform, which supports social, sporting and cultural projects, reaffirming the company’s commitment to developing communities and generating a positive impact on society. “The idea is to join forces for something bigger. All the profits will go to the project, expanding VUSS’s positive impact on the children of Rocinha,” explains João Victor, analyst in PRIO’s events and sponsorship team.
In addition to the contact with the sea and the professional athletes, the young people also signed the creation of a capsule collection in partnership with the Rio brand TVB Shorts. The shorts’ prints, developed in men’s, women’s and children’s versions, were inspired by the surfing universe and the seabed as seen by the children themselves.
Developed with the support of PRIO, all proceeds from the sale of the garments will go to the social project. The collection will be available from August 1st in the brand’s brick-and-mortar stores (Shopping Leblon and Rio Sul) and in the online store: https://www.tvbshorts.com
