PRIO is the new sponsor of Gigantes de Nazaré
Besides supporting the Portugal stage, the company will also have the naming rights to the Rio de Janeiro stage
Rio de Janeiro, February 2025 – PRIO announced its sponsorship of Gigantes de Nazaré (Nazaré Big Wave Challenge), the world’s leading big wave championship. In addition to supporting the Portuguese stage, the largest independent oil and gas company in Latin America will also have the naming rights to the Rio de Janeiro stage. After the success of the first Brazilian edition, held in 2022, the event is back at Pontão do Leblon, scheduled to take place between May and September in Rio’s south zone.
“The high-performance athlete is one of our company’s archetypes. For us, it’s a source of great pride to link our brand to an event that challenges athletes, demanding boldness, non-conformity and total efficiency to achieve the expected results, just like our values,” says Olivia Richardson, Head of Marketing and Communications at PRIO.
The strategy continues the movement started last year, when PRIO sponsored the Dream Tour, the main national surfing circuit. On the occasion, in addition to the name of the event, the brand was responsible for presenting the athletes’ area and promoting PRIO Sessions, concerts that closed the days of competition.
“Our business is in the sea, so supporting an event like Gigantes de Nazaré reflects our efforts on behalf of sport and the environment,” says Olivia. “We will also be awarding the best of the season at the I ❤ PRIO theater in Rio in the second semester of the year. We are going to celebrate an incredible season with the best surfers in the world,” she said.
