In a short timeframe, the space has established itself as a cultural and diverse meeting point, welcoming major names such as Fernanda Montenegro, Cissa GuimarĂŁes and Marina Lima

Rio de Janeiro, October 7, 2024 – The Theater Iđź–¤PRIO, located in Gávea, at the Jockey Club of Rio de Janeiro, celebrates its first anniversary under this name with a memorable retrospective. Establishing itself as one of the most vibrant cultural spaces in the city, the theater, sponsored by PRIO – Brazil’s largest independent oil and gas company, has been the stage for major gatherings, including plays, shows and concerts since its reopening, bringing together big names in its schedule.

During this first year, the Theater I🖤PRIO, managed by LGL Promoções and part of the Bonus Track group, presented 18 shows, 50 concerts and hosted over 50 corporate events. There were more than 70,000 people in the audience. In several performances, it is possible to have translation into sign language, making the shows even more accessible.

“We are proud of the trajectory we have built. The Theater I🖤PRIO has not only offered great shows, but has also established itself as a meeting space for the artistic community and the public, strengthening ties and fostering the city’s cultural development. It is worth recalling that it was an important stage for other projects that we supported, such as the opening show of Carandaí, the largest original fashion festival in Brazil, and initiatives such as Instituto Vini Jr and Favela Brass, which we are proud to also invest in and help to enhance. This is the PRIO way of being: diverse, bold and in tune with Rio,” says Olivia Richardson, Head of Marketing and Communications at PRIO.

Among the performances that most impacted the venue’s trajectory during this period, the following stand out: the ILovePRIO Blues&Jazz festival, the ILovePRIO Humor Award and the special women’s month program, which was opened by Fernanda Montenegro reading excerpts from Simone de Beauvoir’s book “The Farewell Ceremony.”

Other events also filled the venue, such as the premieres of “Rota 69” tour by Marina Lima and the 10-year anniversary of the play “Doidas e Santas”, with Cissa GuimarĂŁes, Josie Antello and Giuseppe Oristanio; the play “A Ăšltima Entrevista de MarĂlia Gabriela” (The Last Interview of MarĂlia Gabriela), with MarĂlia Gabriela and Theodoro Cochrane; several specials from the Candlelight concert and “Vini Day” – a meeting between the soccer player and children from schools supported by Instituto Vini Jr., organized by PRIO.  Still on show until the end of this month is the theatrical performance “O Cravo e a Rosa”, inspired by the famous novel of the same name by Walcyr Carrasco.

“The country’s culture has been reborn after crises and the pandemic, so managing to rely on the support and encouragement of companies is very important. PRIO is certainly one of the main culture promoters today, and the Theather I đź–¤ PRIO has become a benchmark for quality, structure and programming, presenting the best in theater, music and humor to the public,” says Caio Bucker, the theater’s curator and artistic director. “In this first year of partnership, we need to thank PRIO, which has shown the company’s seriousness and competence by making a cultural commitment to its host city and proving that it is much more than an oil and gas company. May there be many more years and reasons to celebrate ahead,” added JoĂŁo MagalhĂŁes, partner and manager of the space.

The one-year celebration stresses the Teather reinforces Theater Iđź–¤PRIO commitment with art and culture in Rio de Janeiro, offering the public of the city Rio, starting with the company’s employees – who have access to all sponsored events – a welcoming and high-level environment. For the coming months, the Theater is already preparing an even more varied agenda, with innovative shows and new opportunities for interaction.
