PRIO, the largest independent oil and gas company in Brazil, has a high-performance team on the field and on the podiums. Five of the ten athletes sponsored by the company took part in the Parapan American Games in Santiago, and all of them came home with medals! In all, they won seven gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. And that’s not all we accomplished! Swimmer Gabriel Araújo took home five gold medals and achieved the Pan-American record in five competitions (50 m, 100 m and 200 m freestyle, as well as the 50 m and 100 m backstroke).

“We’re proud to support athletes with such incredible performance and who are always pursuing their best. Brazil was able to show why it has stood out as a great power in Paralympic sports, and for us it’s really cool to be part of this history. I’m sure they’ve already left many of us looking forward to Brazil’s performance at the 2024 Paralympics,” comments Gabriel Hackme, Sponsorships manager at PRIO.

The first private Brazilian oil company to support para-athletes, PRIO has reinforced its commitment to promoting a more inclusive and less unequal society through sports. Serving as ambassador for #TeamPRIO is swimmer and Paralympic medalist Clodoaldo Silva (44), considered the greatest Brazilian para-athlete ever. The team is made up of four men and five women: Wallace Antonio (shot put), Gabriel AraĂşjo (swimming), Alana Maldonado (judo), Julyana da Silva (discus throw), Diana Barcellos (rowing), Brenda Freitas (judo), AntĂ´nio TenĂłrio (judo), Wilians Silva de AraĂşjo (judo), and Camille Rodrigues (swimming).

Sponsorship of the team is one of the company’s many initiatives to promote sports. PRIO also supports other sports such as automobile racing (sponsored by driver Nicolas Costa and the Porsche Carrera Cup) and martial arts, as well as actions to encourage culture and environmental preservation.
